Fantastic Four #48 1966
Fantastic Four-Silver Surfer and Galactus
Suggest Grade | 5.5 |
Investment Amount | 1275 |
Predicted ROI | 175% |
Predicted Dollar Return | 956 |
Risk Factor | 56% |
Rarity | 2 |
Kicking off our Top Comics to Invest in right now is Fantastic Four 48. There is not enough that could be said about this comic and the reason why it is starting our top 10 comics to invest in right now is the higher risk factor. Silver Surfer and Galactus have been a fan favorite of comic book collectors for many years. Now with Marvel purchasing all of the Fox characters they now can finally come to the MCU and do the characters justice. Don’t get me wrong Jessica Alba will always have my heart as Invisible Girl but now Marvel’s first family can finally interact properly.
Amazing Spider-Man #101 1971
Amazing Spider-Man 101 Morbius
Suggest Grade | 7.5 |
Investment Amount | 600 |
Predicted ROI | 150% |
Predicted Dollar Return | 300 |
Risk Factor | 56% |
Rarity | 4 |
Such an iconic cover Spider-Man getting bitched slapped by Morbius on the cover of his first appearance really sets the tone of how much of a menace Morbius is to our favorite wall crawler. Especially with a name such as Jared Leto attached to the character who (despite being thrown under the bus for his performance as Joker) really steals every scene that Margo Robbie is not in. Now where the Sony Universe is going is unclear we do know that the door is left open for Morbius to return just from the teaser trailer.
Fantastic Four #13 1963
Fantastic Four 13- The Watcher
Suggest Grade | 4 |
Investment Amount | 337 |
Predicted ROI | 125% |
Predicted Dollar Return | 84 |
Risk Factor | 50% |
Rarity | 7 |
We tried to stay away from the Disney+ properties since for the most part it will star characters that have been in the MCU for many years so they have already gotten a boast in first appearance comic sales which would hurt the ceiling of how much a certain book can grow. Before Stan Lee’s passing it was believed that The Watcher has been in movies since Stan the Man first appeared in the Incredible Hulk TV Movie all the way back in 1989. Since Stan passed away one would think that the Watcher has made his last appearance but the Disney series What if? will now be narrated by The Watcher in every episode. Every episode of the What if? series will feature a new obscure story line that starts at square one each time which means the only character that we will have a connection with each week will end up being The Watcher. Mix that in with the low amount of graded books and it creates a very high ceiling for the MCU’s oldest charater.
Avengers #43 1967
Avengers- 43 Red Guardian
Suggest Grade | 7.5 |
Investment Amount | 250 |
Predicted ROI | 125% |
Predicted Dollar Return | 63 |
Risk Factor | 50% |
Rarity | 8 |
It seems that the MCU is taking fan favorites from TV series and turning them into comedy relief characters which end up lasting for many films. The best example of this case would be Chris Pratt who was from Parks and Rec and turned into Star Lord. The newest in this line of comic relief characters is David Harbour of Stranger Things and stole the spotlight in the Black Widow trailer. Red Guardian was only on a few people’s list of making an appearance in the MCU which means the price of his first appearance has not gotten to its peak and we believe that it will peak after Black Widow debuts on the big screen which is a rare occasion in the comic book world which makes this a great top 10 comic to invest in right now.
Tomb of Dracula #10 1973
Tomb of Dracula 10- Blade
Suggest Grade | 7 |
Investment Amount | 650 |
Predicted ROI | 200% |
Predicted Dollar Return | $650 |
Risk Factor | 50% |

One of the first memories of super-hero movies in my memories was Wesley Snipes version of Blade. Funny enough it was that trilogy that gave us our first look at the man who has played 5 comic book characters in his lifetime and it was not Chris Evans. Most people forget about Ryan Renolds performance in Blade Trinity as Hannibal King which was the merc with the mouth’s first comic book role. Mahersela Ali is set to take up the mantle of the half human-half vampire anti hero who with Abraham slices through night walkers like I slice through a meat lover’s pizza. Since the announcement has been made as a surprise at this year’s comic con Tomb of Dracula 10 still has so much high side as a comic to invest in for 2020
Aquaman #35 1967
Aquaman 35- Black Manta
Suggest Grade | 5.5+ |
Investment Amount | 185 |
Predicted ROI | 175% |
Predicted Dollar Return | $185 |
Risk Factor | 44% |
Rarity | 7 |
A majority of super-hero movies traditionally share one common flaw and that is having a villain that has a powerful enough performance to return for multiple films. Yahya Abdul-Mateen may not have given a performance like the Heth Ledger did for the Joker but like the Joker Black Manta is such a fan favorite that while that actor may be replaced the character will live on forever. James Wan’s take on the male version of Ariel worked so we expect to see a lot more of Jason Mamoa in years to come. Out of the whole DCEU Wonder Woman and Aquaman are in the best place to continue. Don’t worry we still like Shazam!
Avengers #48 1968
Avengers 48- Black Knight
Suggest Grade | 7.5 |
Investment Amount | 313 |
Predicted ROI | 200% |
Predicted Dollar Return | $600 |
Risk Factor | 44% |

We touched a little on the MCU bringing in TV favorites and they did it again with Kit Harington playing the Black Knight. If you have been reading so far we like characters that will have a long run on the big screen and it is no different here. Black Knight has the ability to pass his powers on through the years. The first Black Knight appeared in Black Knight #1 back in 1955 but Kit Harrington will be playing Dane Witman who made his first appearance as the Black Knight in Avengers 48 in 1968. Like his run in the comic books we believe that the Black Knight in whichever version he is in is here to stay. Plus look at how many times Kit Harrington dodge death in Game of Thrones, that fucker is hard to kill.
Avengers #8 1964
Avengers 8- Kang the Conqueror
Suggest Grade | 7.0 |
Investment Amount | $600 |
Predicted ROI | 200% |
Predicted Dollar Return | $600 |
Risk Factor | 42% |
Rarity | 6 |
When Marvel purchased the Fantastic Four and the X-Men they also purchased many story lines that had young comic book readers on the edge of their seat while reading their 12 cent book under their covers with a flashlight like we have seen on many 80s movies. One of those villains that has been in the Marvel family for many years is Kang the Conqueror. Kang is a time travelling villain, who sometimes plays a hero, and has a very possible direct blood line to Reed Richards aka Mr. Fantastic. Since Marvel is going the way of the Multiverse it is only a matter of time before we see Kang.
Journey into Mystery #107 1964
Journey into Mystery 107- Kamilla
Suggest Grade | 6.5 |
Investment Amount | $89 |
Predicted ROI | 150% |
Predicted Dollar Return | 45 |
Risk Factor | 42% |

Every now and then comic book collecting comes down to when you get some good advice and when you have some extra cash in your pocket. If for you that time is now then you are in luck because reports of Karnilla entering into the MCU via Thor Love and Thunder have just surfaced. Some reports are stating that the groundwork has been set up since Age of Ultron which if you know Marvel they do like giving us Easter Eggs early. Simply put if you are looking for a comic where you want to get on the ground floor on this is the one for you. Nuff said.
Fantastic Four #5 1967
Fantastic Four 5- Dr. Doom
Suggest Grade | 4 |
Investment Amount | 4500 |
Predicted ROI | 250% |
Predicted Dollar Return | 6750 |
Risk Factor | 38% |
Rarity | 5 |
I know that we have seen Dr. Doom in the Movies before and if it weren’t for the horrible job that Fox did with Rise of the Silver Surfer we would have seen Jilian McMahon continue his role. Like we have said many times before it is rare to see a villain that just captures the attention of the reader so when you run into one that has stood the test of time like Doom has you have to wonder when he will be making his first appearance in the Movies (I am going to act like the 2015 Fantastic Four never happened). With a Character that has so much appeal to its audience the risk factor stays low and a mid level rarity is the perfect storm for high returns. Since this comic is already in the 1000s for many of the grades the profitability is very high on this silver age favorite.

Uncanny X-Men #266 1990

When Fox made Ryan Reynolds the star of Deadpool 2 other production companies noticed something; put a heart-throb as the lead and you will have both men and women running to the cinema for date night. Enter Channing Tatum as Gambit. Both New Mutants 98 and Uncanny X-men 266 were released in the early 90s which should mean that two comic books will see the same increases. When the Deadpool movie was originally announced New Mutants 98 doubled its average within a year. Since the Gambit Movie has been toyed with for a while now we have to think that we are not at the bottom of the market for this book. If you end up finding this book in the wild make sure that it is protected since any damage to the book will result a much lower grade.
FANTASTIC FOUR #67 1967
Suggest Grade | 7.0+ |

With Adam Warlock being teased at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 in the post credits scene and James Gunn’s script for Guardians of the Galaxy 3 already in Disney’s hands there is little doubt that we will be seeing the genetically altered super hero on the big screen very soon. Mid range graded comic books of the Fantastic Four #67 can still be picked up for about $100.00 with good upside making this our first pick on the list of comics to invest in right now.
New Gods #1 1971
Suggest Grade | 9.0+ |
Investment Amount | 200 |
Predicted ROI | 200% |
Predicted Dollar Return | $400 |

We all know the story. Jack Kirby left Marvel to create his fourth world. We got a taste of it in Justice League Dawn of Justice with the main antagonist Steppenwolf forcing an older Batman needing to create a team of super heroes to put aside their difference and fight together. I know it sounds like the Power Rangers but where Justice League Dawn of Justice lacked it did open up the door for the rest of the New Gods to invade earth to get their vengeance on our new favorite super hero team. While this book has already doubled in worth the Comic Book Boys think we will still see at least another 50% increase before the next Justice League movie comes out.
Detective Comics #233 1956
Suggest Grade | 3.0+ |
Investment Amount | 1300 |

When ranking the order of which comics were going to increase in value the most (from a percentage stand point) this book put us in a pickle. Yes I know that Ruby Rose is to appear on her own series and that she has a massive following but the problem with this book is just that graded copies are so hard to come by. As of right now there are zero available on the market making this one of the hottest books out there right now. So why is it our number #7? simple if no books are on the market then the price does not increase as often. If you find this comic book in the wild then make sure that you call the Comic Book Boys to give you a free appraisal of your treasure.
Amazing Spider-Man #15 1964

With the Google user’s ranking Venom 95% and it ranking in over $200 mil Sony has deemed it worthy to create it’s own Venom-verse and the Comic Book Boys love the idea of seeing our favorite hunter 50 stories tall. Kraven’s story is really a unique one of becoming better than any other prey on earth. Already this comic has risen in value by leaps and bounds with only the announcement that the Equalizer 2’s writer being attached to the movie. With leaks saying we might we our favorite wall crawler in the film this movie has the chance to merge the two universes together!
Amazing Spider-Man Annual #1 1964
Suggest Grade | 6.0+ |
Investment Amount | 900 |

Let’s break down which major villains we know are in the Sony verse so far:
- Vulture
- Scorpion
- Mysterio
- The Shocker
- Kraven the Hunter (see above)
- A Hydro-man type villain (thank you Tom Holland)
I don’t know about you but that seems pretty suspect that we have 6 villains that is almost the same as the original Sinister Six. If you take out the original Doc Oct and replace him with another mechanically enhanced individual the Scorpion and let’s be honest Spider-Man 3 showed us that Sandman isn’t that scary so let’s change it to Hydro-Man and there you go we have a perfect fantasy roster of super villains.
Eternals #1 1976

Investment Amount | 170 |
Predicted ROI | 225% |
Predicted Dollar Return | 382.5 |

Another Jack Kirby story but why does this newer comic book have more potential than an order New Gods or even a Fantastic Four 67? Well that is because in the case of New Gods Marvel is at the helm and when they even tease a movie about a character it shoots the price up on a comic almost instantly. When it comes to Fantastic Four #67 as opposed to just one character this will include a whole roster that Kevin Feige can make a star. Like Adam Warlock the Eternals were already teased in another Marvel Movie when Red Skull was on Vormir he mentioned Thanos’s father A’lars who of course is an Eternal.
Marvel Super Heroes #13 1967
Suggest Grade | 6.0+ |
Investment Amount | 600 |

Predicted Dollar Return | 1050 |

Brie Larson is looking to make a big splash in the MCU and she is looking to do so come this March. Already this comic book has already doubled since Nick Fury reached for his (oh wait spoiler alert for Avengers Infinity War) pager as getting dusted (dust in the wind) and we see Captain Marvel’s logo appear in the final minutes. So why would the Comic Book Boys think that Marvel Super Heroes deserves to be in the top comics to invest in for 2019? It’s simple, the time is setting on some of the original Avengers contracts and Captain Marvel is one of the strongest Avengers every in the comics making her ideal to lead Earth’s Mightiest Warriors into the next phase point all arrows up for Marvel Super Heroes #13.
Showcase #22 1959
Suggest Grade | 4.0+ |
Investment Amount | 2000 |
Predicted ROI | 300% |
Predicted Dollar Return | 6000 |

If Ryan Reynolds can get a second chance of playing a super-hero why don’t we give Hal Jordan a chance to charge is ring and team up with the rest of his Crops. As of right now Tom Cruise has been attached to the film which will bring in a huge following. Tom Cruise’s movies average of just under $100 million which is 30% higher than Ryan Reynolds. At this time Showcase #22 is at a great place to buy with fantastic upside. The Comic Book Boys predict that Showcase #22 will increase by 250% by the release time of Green Lantern Crops making it our #2 comic to invest in for 2019 Jan-Mar.
All American Comics #16 1940
Suggest Grade | .5+ |
Investment Amount | 12000 |

Predicted Dollar Return | 24000 |

Just like Showcase #22 All American Comics is featuring a first appearance of another Green Lantern. It is rare that this comic book comes on the market but when it does it does not long. With less comics graded than Action Comics #1 and only 1 graded over an 8.0 any copy of All American Comics #16 is the best comic to invest in for 2019 Jan-Mar
